It’s been an unusual quiet on the west coast front since the first day of summer arrived in early June. Though the hustle of work and the end of school may have kept our Spring calendars busy, the landmark holiday that has become a notorious marker for reggae roots and good vibes is finally upon us once again.

The Island Reggae Festival symbolizes the official beginning of summer here in the Bay Area for us island music lovers. Bringing together thousands of people of various backgrounds and cultures, each of the last four years have been outstanding in musical talent as well as remarkably focused on appreciating the South Pacific Islands that are strongly represented in the Bay Area and beyond.

This year’s fifth annual all-day event will carry the same traditions as the former years while adding an edgy element of Bay Area hip hop and mainstream pop music. Bay Area radio personality will be hosting the first ever Oasis Day Party that will bring a number of DJ’s together for a friendly competition of music mixing as they battle for the first IRF King Controlla title.

Island Reggae Festival comes and goes every summer as an annual treat for us all. Whether you enjoy reggae music and want to listen to the musical likes of Common Kings, Tarrus Riley, Anuhea, Tennelle, Sammy J and more or simply want to reconnect with the roots of the Pacific, your calling this Saturday should be at the Santa Clara Fairgrounds where fun, food and good vibes will be shared amongst all of us festival goers.

And to help you get there we will be giving away tickets as an incentive to join us! Simply repost this on your page with >#IslandReggaeFest< as the caption and you can be in the running for a pair of tickets to this Saturday’s showdown!
