The release of J Boog’s latest EP Rose Petals gives the reggae world another tracklist to bump our heads to. The ‘Let’s Do it Again’ artist relies on the familiar cadence of his own creative reggae rhythm while infusing the popular styles of some of reggae’s most familiar sounds. This five track album shows off the sonic chemistry between J Boog and reggae music and the effortless spirit of producing great music for a global audience.

TWID Select Song:

Good Cry (ft. Chaka Demus)

Roll your windows down and turn your speakers up! This song offers an upbeat jam that suggests Summer is here once again. J Boog opens up his album with Good Cry as a way of re-introducing himself and his sound. This song has traces of many of his other bangers that live on his past projects such as his self-titled EP (J Boog).

TWID No Feels Song:

No Pressure (ft. Snoop Dogg)

The album’s bonus track featuring the Long Beach rapper has a lot going on. Snoop Dogg (or Snoop Lion rather) opens up the song with sexually overt innuendos which is off-putting and unattractive to the loyal J Boog listener. The song sounds like it’s forcing itself into a mainstream genre. As a listener, the intentions are unclear. Did he bring Snoop into the studio to include the renowned rapper into the reggae world or was it rather to impede Boog’s reputable music into mainstream dialogue? Regardless, it sounded a bit like the musical duo were confused themselves.

Overall, if you are a fan of J Boog music you should definitely download this album to add into your library of reggae jams! Whether you like one or all songs, J Boog’s musical transcript still stands ahead of the reggae curve.
