For the first time ever, Fiji Fashion Week is sending 12 of their most prominent designers to feature in a special segment in partnership with LA Fashion Week.
The Fiji Designers Resort Wear Theme will be a highlight of LA Fashion Week. This is a giant leap forward for Fiji Fashion Week which is only 8 years old.
LA Fashion Week Director Ms Kim Krempien said “We always wanted to hold a fashion show with ethnic diversity that would promote and assist emerging and exciting new designers from developing countries. Fiji was a great choice as their local airline has a direct flight to LAX”.
Fiji’s tropical paradise has featured in many a Hollywood blockbuster and is a favourite destination for American surfers. Director of Fiji Fashion Week, Ms Ellen Whippy-Knight said “These 12 designers have all featured in our Fashion Week since it was established in 2008. Fashion design has since developed at the rate of knots as Fijians are naturally talented. Our ancestors were artisans weaving, carving, creating materials from the surrounding fauna, painting with dyes made from plants and making hand made garments”.
A Trade Show with Fijian cultural entertainment will be held in conjunction with the Show’s After Party which will also promote some of Fiji’s exotic island resorts and products.
Supported by the Fiji Trade Commission and Tourism Fiji in LA the team is committed to making their first event away from home one that will become a permanent fixture in LA Fashion Week.
We are hoping that the entire Fashion industry in LA, the elite of Hollywood and LA and those who would like to experience 12 beautiful summer holiday themed collections will attend this ticketed event in support of the Fijian designers.
