All About Tenelle: Exclusive Interview

Music 24 Oct 2014   »   by Honestine Pa'ala-Fraser

We can expect a lot of exciting things coming from singer Tenelle Luafalemana in the future. The Samoan beauty has just recently returned to the States from performing abroad in both Saipan and Guam, and will be touring with Common Kings on the Home Grown Cali Tour this November. On top of that, Tenelle, who is known for her hits Tell Me and Bulletproof, is expected to release a new single on November 4th. She has a busy schedule ahead of her, but we, along with her fans, can’t wait to see what’s in store. We at TWID were fortunate enough to interview her, and give our readers the opportunity to see what Tenelle is all about.

TWID: First off, tell us a little about yourself and your music.
T: I’m from Carson, California. Music always made me smile. My goal is to move nations with my music. My focus is to make people smile, laugh, cry, and relate [with my music].

TWID: Where do you find your inspiration for your music?
T: My inspiration in my music is found in my family, and the people I love. I am influenced by the things I see, learn, and feel.

TWID: You’ve been performing in a lot of different places, like Guam and Saipan. How does it feel to perform in places outside of the mainland?
T: To have the privilege to be able to travel the world all due to the beauty of music is honestly humbling. Personally, to perform anywhere and see the reactions from people is the most exciting thing. When the crowd sings along with you to your own song, when you are at the store and people ask you to take a picture, when kids tell you that they want to be just like you when they grow up… all of that is humbling. It makes what I do all worth it.

TWID: What are some music artists that you like to listen to?
T: Asking me what some of my favorite artists I like to listen to is like asking me what my favorite food is. Haha, food is my favorite food. Music is my favorite music. If I had to pick my top three favorite music artists to listen to I would say Lauryn Hill, Mali Music, and Jessie J.

TWID: What future projects can we look forward to seeing from you?
T: We have so many projects in the making. I am soon going to release my EP, many upcoming shows and tours, and videos for visual appreciation. I am excited, anxious, and truly humbled by all the help I’ve been blessed with and the support I truly cherish.

Keep an eye out for Tenelle’s future projects, as she is sure not to disappoint!
