Late Nite Productions presents legendary, Grammy-award winning roots-reggae legends from Jamaica, Black Uhuru, plus Mike Pinto, and DufFyah for the Lake Tahoe Fall Harvest Reggae Jam on Friday, November 29.
This 21 and over reggae show is in the blu nighclub of Montbleu Resort at South Lake Tahoe. Tickets are $20 advance at www.ticketweb.com and at Montbleu Box Office, Mad About Music (South Lake Tahoe), New Moon Natural Foods (Tahoe City and Kings Beach), and Recycled Records (Reno). Tickets will be $25 at the door.
Black Uhuru is a Jamaican reggae group formed in the Waterhouse district of Kingston Jamaica in 1972, initially as Uhuru (Swahili for ‘freedom’). Over the years, Black Uhuru have released many successful albums and remained one of the most important and highly influential reggae artists in the world. Black Uhuru’s album “Red” was ranked #23 on Rolling Stone Magazine’s list of the 100 Greatest albums of the ’80s, they have won a Grammy Award for “Best Reggae Album” and been nominated five times throughout their career. The group has also scored a #1 single in the UK for their now-classic track “What is Life?”. In addition to their other accomplishments, Black Uhuru is the only reggae group to have won the Diamond Awards of Excellence.
Throughout their career, Black Uhuru has become ambassadors of reggae on a worldwide scale and influenced countless artists around the globe. With 14 full-length albums, including one on the way in 2014, 7 instrumental dub albums, and 4 live albums they have the highest record sales in reggae music behind Bob Marley.
Opening act Mike Pinto has crafted an exceptional style of songwriting, with a truly unique take on Roots, Vintage Rock, Reggae, Ska and Classic Surf.
DufFyah is a DJ from FullWatts HiFi and he will be bringing rockers reggae, classic dancehall and island vibez to the show.
