The bi-annual MAGIC Trade Show (and its affiliate shows: Project, S.l.a.t.e, FN Platform, WWD Magic, Mens/Wear, Pooltradeshow, and Street) was held last week from August 22-24 at the Las Vegas and Mandalay Bay Convention Centers. It was an eventful show that brought out the top designers from all over the country as well as from all over the world. The WhatItDo was able to cover MAGIC once again and bring you the latest trends for the upcoming Spring/Summer 2012 season (with a few Fall 2012 previews) so get ready for some good stuff!

At MAGIC, every brand imaginable put their best foot forward in their respective markets from stylish women’s and men’s apparel to amazing accessories and footwear. Every designer has their own style and presents it in their own different way. The shoe collections of brands such as Luchiny’s, Ruco Line, and London FLY with their unique yet hip styles were just a few that caught my eye in footwear. One of my favorites for men’s apparel had to be an urban line based out of New York City by Hip-Hop artist Pharell (who happens to be in a partnership with Jay-Z). It’s ivy league, urban prep style is on the rise to becoming larger than its own name – Billionaire Boys Collection.

Regardless of what the trends may be, it’s all about how you assemble pieces together and how you wear it. When someone can wear what they’ve put together with confidence, that is style and that alone is sexy! Upcoming trends include layered prints and stripes, letterman jackets layered with hoodies and/or scarves, sequin shorts with/without tights, colorful jeans cuffed and rolled up, two-toned sequins, Aztec prints, and modern vintage to name a few. After meeting a bunch of style-loving designers, buyers, and manufacturers from all over the world, I am looking forward to rockin’ the latest styles and trends in the upcoming season and that is WhatItDo!
