Last night Universal City Walk was packed with Nicole Scherzinger and 97.1 AMP Radio Fans! As part of AMP Radio’s “Topless Summer Switch Party,” the former Pussycat Doll & Urban Island beauty performed on CityWalk’s new 5 towers stage for an excited and energized audience and The Whatitdo had all access passes!
The evening began with DJ Kryp2nite spinning and getting the crowd pumped up in true AMP’d fashion! But music wasn’t the only thing AMP’N the crowd, VIP Ticket winners also had the chance to win a variety of other prizes from gift certificates for Buca Di Bepo and Guess to a brand new 2011 Jeep Wrangler!
While some VIP Ticket Holders were there for the prizes, most were there for the main event! Gladys Bugayong listens to 97.1 because she says, “They play Top 40, but they play new and old so I like the variety.” When she heard that Nicole Scherzinger was going to perform at an AMP Switch party, she called in 50+ times over the weekend and was the last person on the last day of the contest to win her VIP tickets. She says, “I’m Nicole’s biggest fan! I go to all of her events, all of her shows, I know all her music. It’s very eclectic, it’s pop but she has rock influences, soul influences so it’s very unique. And she’s very talented too.”
As soon as Nicole hit the stage, she killed the game! Starting off with her new pop jam infused with a hint of island style and swag, “Right There”, Nicole had half the crowd singing along and the other half hypnotized by her sultry voice and seductive moves. Next she took it old school and sang a classic Pussycat Doll hit, “I Hate This Part” and finished off the night with her hit single “Don’t Hold Your Breath”! Nicole’s performance was exciting, fun, and sexy. She bringin’ the Islands to the Streets and it was definitely Whatitdo!
Local Pacific Islanders, Kevin Scanlan and Michelle Feniquito, found out about the night from CityWalk’s website, but most of the people there heard about it on FM 97.1, so make sure you follow both @ampradio & @CityWalkLA so you don’t miss out on any more great events! And listen every day to FM 97.1 AMP Radio!
