The 2011 BET Awards Weekend came to a close Sunday night and what happens after the awards? The after party! The 2011 BET Awards Official After Party was held at Playhouse Hollywood where all the historic parties take place. Hosted by J. Cole and YMCMB DJ Khaled (both also performed), I do have to say that this was the best party of the entire weekend.
With Playhouse packed from wall to wall, celebrities and Hollywood socialites came on out to celebrate. Rihanna, Busta Rhymes, Terror Squad, Scott Storch, and Mario, just to name a few, supported the major acts. Drakes official DJ, Future The Prince, was on the turntables warming up the crowd for anticipated performances.
First up, DJ Khaled had the entire club singing his anthems “I’m On One” and “All I Do Is Win.” Everybody had their hands up, cameras out, and videos recording because DJ Khaled was ill on stage! Speaking of ill, J. Cole is so ill that he performed right at his bottle-service table! The spotlight was on him as he sang his new single “Work Out” and fan favorite “In The Morning.” Performances like that don’t come around too often so consider yourself lucky if you were an eyewitness!
Luckily, I had the chance to speak with J. Cole after his performance. I was able to express to him how much I am a fan of his and how much he inspires me to be my best and push myself with my career. He expressed to me, “Thank you for sharing that with me. It means a lot to me because it means I am reaching out to people.” On that note, I could have died happy then and there!
BET Host/ DJ Q45 closed the night with a sick DJ set. It was the first time I have seen DJ Q45 play live and I am now a fan. I haven’t heard a great Hip Hop set like than in a while, mad props to Q45 for shutting Playhouse down! Overall, this party has to be one at the top of my list of best parties. To see such amazing artists perform in one night is priceless. Shout out to event coordinator Johnny Cruz and his partners Joseph Harrison and Roland Franklin for throwing an epic after party for the BET Awards Weekend 2011!
